Training + Education

Shelly earned her BA at the Queens College, City University of New York, where she majored in Psychology. She then attended Hofstra University earning her MA in Mental Health Counseling in 2022.

Shelly is working under the supervision of Margaret Riback, LMHC at Torres Mental Health Counseling Services. Shelly is a NYSED Limited Permit holder (MHC- LP) working on obtaining licensure.

Clinical Approach

Shelly practices from an empathetic, trauma informed, multiculturally sensitive perspective. Her clinical interests include relationships and couples, anxiety and depression, discrimination and antisemitism, crisis and trauma, sexuality and sexual issues, and substance abuse and addiction.

Shelly aims to create a compassionate, safe space and work together with the client on easing emotional distress, improve quality of life, and to facilitate personal growth. Her clinical approach is informed by a humanistic lens with evidence based therapy cognitive behavioral therapy, Internal family systems, psychodynamic therapy, realistic therapy and gestalt therapy influences.
